Jackie Zimmerman is a digital marketing consultant who focuses on non-profits and healthcare related organizations. In a former life, she worked as a brand manager and communications specialist but all roads always seem to lead back to helping patients and improving healthcare so in 2018 she finally gave in and started working for herself on her blog where she hopes to continue to use her powers for good to work with great organisations and inspiring patients.
History with the condition
Jackie was diagnosed with MS in 2006 when she was 21 and finishing up her undergraduate degree. Shortly after her diagnosis she started a newsletter specifically for young adults living with MS, which later turned into a blog. Jackie has experienced 3 MS relapses all of which were bouts of optic neuritis in both eyes. Jackie has worked hard to become a strong voice in the patient advocacy community focusing on educating about MS and emphasizing that everyone’s journey is different.
She began writing about living with MS shortly after her diagnosis as way to connect other young patients but never dreamed it would evolve into a career. Jackie has been working in advocacy for 12 years and has had the honour of representing the MS community at various conferences, keynote speeches and panel discussions. In her free time (what free time?!) she snuggles her two rescue pups, her husband Adam and plays roller derby.
